All our tours in Finland’s pristine nature are truly one of a kind. We specialize in excursions designed for families and groups in the areas where our cabins are located. High-quality equipment, familiar locations, well-maintained gear, and a seamless network of local experts—combined with great snacks and cozy campfire spots—are the keys to our success.
Northern Lights Tours
The northern lights are a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and each show is unique. What could be more magical than sitting by a campfire, watching the auroras dance in the sky? The northern lights are visible year-round, but they shine the brightest from September to March. For the best viewing, we need a clear night sky and complete darkness. Since sightings depend on the weather, we cannot guarantee them—but if you stay in Suomutunturi for a week, chances are high that you’ll see them. Our northern lights tours can be done by snowmobile, skiing, or simply walking. We’ll bring a camera so you’ll have photos of your adventure!
Husky Rides
A self-guided husky safari offers an unforgettable experience. Ride a sled pulled by Siberian huskies through stunning trails near a protected wetland area. You’ll also get to visit a local husky farm. Small private groups (2–6 people) can book a personalized tour, ensuring an intimate and exclusive experience. Only one group is hosted at a time.
Snowmobile Tours
We’ve explored numerous trails around Suomutunturi and can guide you safely on a snowmobile tour to your preferred destination. The kota (traditional Lappish hut) is a well-known landmark in Suomutunturi, and there are many of them in the area. We’ll help you select a route that best suits your interests and skill level. We also organize full-day trips to Salla. Meals are prepared for grilling on the way. Snowmobiles can be rented in Suomutunturi, but we recommend booking in advance.
Canoeing Tours
Canoeing allows you to explore waters that are inaccessible by boat. Enjoy the peacefulness of the water at your own pace. In Eastern Finland, a two-person canoe rental is 60 € / week. We can deliver the canoe to your cabin or provide instructions on where to pick it up. Currently, we do not offer canoeing at our Suomutunturi locations. Please remember that wearing a life jacket is mandatory, and canoeing is done at your own risk. We recommend practicing in shallow waters before setting off on a longer trip—and don’t forget to save energy for the return journey!
Stand-Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
What could be more relaxing than gliding across the lake on a calm day, enjoying the silence? A SUP board allows you to explore areas that boats cannot reach—close to shorelines and between islands. SUP board rentals are 40 € / week / board, when booked together with a cabin rental. We can deliver the board to your cabin or provide pickup instructions. Please note that paddleboarding is done at your own risk, and wearing a life jacket is always required.
Fishing Trips
Fishing trips can last anywhere from a few hours to an overnight adventure—fully customized to your preferences. Our trips are safe, reliable, and offer great opportunities for fishing year-round. A fishing trip in Finland’s unspoiled nature is an excellent way to unwind, build lasting relationships with clients, or enjoy quality time with family and friends.
Foraging: Mushroom and Berry Picking
We’ll guide you to the best foraging spots in the forest. Eastern Finland is one of the top regions for wild mushrooms, with forests full of golden chanterelles and many other edible varieties. In Suomutunturi, you can find boletes—and sometimes even the prized matsutake. In August, lingonberries and bog bilberries ripen, and when the first frosts arrive, we head to the wetlands for cranberries. Lapland is also the best place to collect cloudberries.
Self-Guided Excursions
The surrounding nature offers countless opportunities for adventure. We provide maps for our guests and can give additional guidance if needed. Remember to bring appropriate gear, delicious snacks and a curious, joyful spirit!
